Elope in The Cyclades

A closer look at the landscape, the logistics and the independent people who work here.

The Cyclades, Greece

On the ground

What to know before choosing the date.

Beyond Santorini and Mykonos, the Cyclades offer different kinds of intimacy. Milos brings volcanic rock and sea caves; Paros and Naxos combine villages, beaches and stronger year-round infrastructure; Tinos and Folegandros suit couples willing to plan around fewer connections and a slower rhythm.

Do not build the wedding day around a same-day ferry connection. Wind can delay or cancel sailings, vehicle availability varies by island and boat-only locations need a realistic landing and weather alternative. Base the couple and core vendors on the ceremony island before the event, then treat island-hopping as part of the wider trip.

Late May, June and September are the most flexible months for swimming, daylight and transport without the height of August demand. Each island municipality controls its civil ceremony process and public-space permissions; a symbolic ceremony still needs the landowner or venue's consent.
