What to know before choosing the date.

Rome suits couples who want the ceremony, portraits and dinner within a city rather than a full destination itinerary. Historic streets, baroque squares, gardens and the countryside of Lazio provide very different backdrops without requiring a flight or ferry transfer.

The city is busiest around major monuments and religious calendars. Sunrise gives the cleanest access to central streets, while permits or restrictions may apply to tripods, larger crews, drones and protected archaeological spaces. A driver can save time but cannot remove pedestrian-only sections.

April through June and September through October are the most comfortable periods for long outdoor sessions. For a legal ceremony, work directly with Roma Capitale or the relevant Lazio Comune and use only approved civil locations.
