What to know before choosing the date.
Sicily offers several distinct elopement landscapes: baroque towns around Noto, coastal terraces near Taormina, the Aeolian islands and the volcanic terrain around Etna. Choose one base rather than trying to combine opposite sides of the island in a wedding-day schedule.
Island and coastal transfers are sensitive to wind, ferry times and summer traffic. Archaeological sites, nature reserves and private estates may require separate permission for ceremonies or professional photography. A local planner or photographer is especially valuable when the route includes boats or restricted landscapes.
April through June and September through October suit outdoor plans better than the hottest weeks. Etna and higher terrain can be cool or changeable even when the coast is warm, so keep layers and a second location in the plan.
