Elope in Glencoe & the Scottish Highlands

A closer look at the landscape, the logistics and the independent people who work here.

On the ground

What to know before choosing the date.

Glencoe is the classic Highland elopement landscape: steep volcanic ridges, waterfalls, open moorland and short walks that can look remote while remaining reachable from the A82. Glen Etive, Rannoch Moor and the west-coast glens extend the same atmosphere into a full-day route.

Roadside viewpoints are not private ceremony venues. Parking is limited, traffic can be fast and popular locations receive tour groups throughout the day. A local photographer or planner should choose a safe meeting point, check land management and keep the group small enough to move without blocking access.

Rain, wind and low cloud are normal rather than exceptional. The best plan uses them creatively, keeps waterproof layers close and has a sheltered ceremony option nearby. In warmer months, bring midge protection for still, damp locations.
