Kerry & Cork, Ireland

On the ground

What to know before choosing the date.

Kerry and West Cork combine mountain passes, peninsulas and small harbour towns along the southern Wild Atlantic Way. Killarney is the easiest service base; the Dingle Peninsula and Beara reward a slower overnight plan rather than a same-day dash from Dublin.

Killarney National Park is the logistical anchor for lakes, woodland, Torc Waterfall and Muckross, but permits are required for commercial photography and drones are not permitted without specific authorization. The park asks visitors to protect limited parking at popular sites, so a weekday or early start matters.

On the Dingle Peninsula, distances are short on paper and slow in practice. Build time for single-lane roads, walkers and unscheduled stops, and choose one side of the peninsula for the ceremony day. Atlantic weather can close the view without warning, but the area has enough beaches, stone churches and indoor venues to build a strong backup.
